Carvins Cove Trails to Re-Open

Extensive trail work is ongoing at Carvins Cove Natural Reserve. Volunteers from the VAST Network have logged nearly 100 hours over the past 10 days repairing a large majority of the damaged sustained earlier this month. Representatives from the Virginia Department of Forestry have also performed mitigation work on select trails and the Brushy Mountain Fire Road. With that said, the trails at Carvins Cove are now open to the public with the following exceptions:

Happy Valley Fire Road (from Schoolhouse to the Boat Dock parking lot), Trough, Gauntlet, Araminta, Kerncliff (from Hemlock Tunnel to Araminta), Sawmill Branch

Work on these trails will continue over the next few weeks. Patrons are reminded to always take proper precautions when using the Carvins Cove trails. Those interested in assisting with the volunteer effort should visit www.vast-network.org
